Len started his playing career as a goalkeeper in 1969 with Bristol City.He was at Ashton Gate for seven years before moving on to Brentford for a three-year stint. From there he moved to Exeter City in 1979 where he stayed for a number of years before joining his 'local club' and the one he supported as a boy, Yeovil Town where he remained until his retirement in 1988.

Soon after hanging up his boots, Len attended a Plymouth Argyle match against Southampton and bumped into Alan Ball. The former World Cup winner duly invited him to join Exeter City as goalkeeper coach, where he went on to train various players including Kevin Miller, who later played with Birmingham City in the Premiership.

After that, Len coached at various clubs with a number of goalkeepers. He also had a spell in the United States where he looked after the likes of Jurgen Sumner who was the USA number two at the time, as well as other international players at various levels.

Returning home to the UK, Len was affiliated with a multitude of clubs, also working as a coach with the FA's Youth Academy, looking after several players who went on to establish themselves in League football.

He then had three years back with former club Bristol City working in their Youth Academy, before another stint in the States. He then returned to Exeter City and then on to Torquay United, before a dream move back to his beloved Yeovil Town.

Len describes his return to Huish Park as like being back home again, and now with Russell Slade as manager, he is enjoying a friendly and positive atmosphere at the club and thinks that the future is looking very rosy all round.
