Yeovil Town made it one League defeat in eight matches with a 0-0 draw at Priestfield yesterday. It's beginning to look as though all those early season doubts have disappeared as the Glovers should have beaten their Kent rivals with ease.
How football can change - only last year Gillingahm were in the Championship and Yeovil League Two. On this performance there was only one team that could even dream about The Championship again and that's the boys in green.

Gillingham though, to be fair, have been badly hit by injuries whilst Yeovil only had one absentee in the form of Liam Fontaine.
Colin Miles stepped back into the left back berth and gave his usual committed performance but he could do little to help when Chris Weale made an uncharacteristic mistake dropping the ball from a Rose cross early on but thankfully for Yeovil, Jarvis volleyed wide with the goal at his mercy.

It was an important let-off for The Glovers, for a goal then would have been a serious blow.
Weale had to deal with another chance for The Gills minutes later when Harris fired in a chance but the keeper was up to the task.
Yeovil's first chance came when Phil Jevons curled a free kick just over and then in the 19th. minute Efetobore Sodje powered a header against the bar.

Soon after Kevin Amankwaah caused mayhem with a run and cross but Jevons fired just wide.
Yeovil were well on top as the half closed with Pablo Bastianini just failing to fire a Jevons pass in whilst surrounded by Gills defenders.
By and large though it wasn't the best 45 mins of football you'll see and the atmosphere in the stadium showed that.

Again Yeovil started the half well with the early chances falling to the men in green and white.

First Jevons went close again with a free kick that was just wide of Crichton's post and then Lee Johnson floated another set piece into the box but Skiverton headed over.
Yeovil continued to dominate without really making any clear cut chances and as some of the tackles started to fly in things started to get nasty.

First Bastianini was scythed down and then Darren Way took a nasty knock in the face that will require an X ray to determine the problem.
Ashikodi's overhead clearance caught Darren flush on the check and he was clearly in trouble although it was not a deliberate kick on the player by Gills midfielder.

With both pyhsio's on to attend to Way play was held up for a while and when the same Askikodi went clattering into Terry Skiverton minutes after the resumption a red card was almost inevitable.
Yeovil pushed forward desperately looking for the winner and with Gall and Davies on for Bastianini and Harrold the fresh legs helped to stretch Gillingham even more but the elusive goal just wouldn't come.

It is a mark of how far that Yeovil have come since that victory up at Hartlepool that everybody felt disappointed with the away point.

With the team safely in a mid table position and the upheaval of the departure of Gary Johnson now a distant memory things are certainly looking rosy for the new management team of Thompson and Hodges.
