Boxing Day came early to Huish Park as the traditional fixture with Bournemouth was brought forward to Friday evening due to increased Police costs.

Manager Steve Thompson stuck with the side that started against Barnsley and the Glovers started well enough against this slick passing Cherries side.

After only 5 minutes a Kevin Amankwaah cross evaded both defenders and Yeovil strikers for what was a good chance.

At the other end James O'Connor had a shot sail overbefore another Yeovil attack saw Stewert save at Harrold's feet.

On 18 minutes it was O'Connor again but his cross goal shot again couldn't find anyone to put it away.

The Cherries neat passing game was certainly entertaining to watch, as was The Glovers, but two sound defences were always on top and chances were few and far between.

Hayter for Bournemouth was always a danger whilst Matty Harrold was again running his socks off for the cause.

Everything changed though in the 17th. minute when Fletcher found Surmanin front of goal.

Efe Sodje came in with a challenge but pulled out before making contact, but by then Surman was down and the referee pointed to the spot.

James Hayter stepped up and sent Collis the wrong way to put Bournemouth in front.

For the fourth game running Yeovil would have to come from behind in what is coming something of a ritual now.

Bournemouth could have gone 2 up a few minutes later when Browning was through having beaten two defenders but he shot wide.

Yeovil kept pushing forward and Harrold was unlucky to stub his toe as he was about to shoot.

In the 25th. minute Jevons played a neat one-two with Harrold but his shot was just wide as the Glovers strived to get back into the game.

On 34 minutes Yeovil lost Liam Fontaine to injury with Paul Terry coming on and it took a while to regroup and get the flowing football back.

Despite all the Yeovil pressure though they were unable to really test Stewert in the Cherries goal and the bumper Huish Park crowd of 8178 were left hoping for more luck in the second half.

Yeovil again started the half well and Chris Cohen was unlucky with a free kick and after 5 minutes a great move saw Kevin Amankwaah feed Phil Jevons but his good shot was saved by Stewert.

Scott Guyett had to temporarily leave the field for attention to his contact lens but nothing really happened during his absence.

Yeovil were again really building up the pressure and from another free kick by Johnson Efe Sodje almost made amends for the penalty but just failed to make contact.

Hayter though, was a constant threat, and another neat passing move saw the Cherries man waltz through the Glovers defence only to shoot over.

Bournemouth weathered the Yeovil storm to get back into the game again and a good chance to Foley was cleared by Sodje.

The game could best be described as technically sound for both teams were playing good passing football but there were very few goal mouth chances to warm up the large crowd.

On 67 minutes David Poole definitely had a good chance but he shot over when perhaps he should have done better.

Steve Thompson decided that a change might help and Arron Davies came on for Poole in the 72nd and within minutes Stewert had to tip a great Jevons header over the bar for a corner.

Yeovil finally got the breakthrough their play deserved when Matty Harrold brought down for another penalty.

A flurry of activity followed with the Police diving into the away crowd but the distraction did nothing to phase Jevo as he coolly slotted home the penalty to draw The Glovers level.

From then on it was Yeovil pressing for the winner with Amankwaah coming far more into the game with a series of testing crosses for The Cherries defence to deal with, and Arron Davies's shooting also adding a new dimension to the attacking play.

But another goal just wouldn't come and on reflection a draw was probably a fair result.

It wasn't that exciting but it extended Yeovil's recent run without defeat and will obviously help bread confidence in the team at a time when it is needed.

For now though it's Christmas with their families and then a long trip to Tranmere to concentrate on.
