When you are down at the bottom they say that luck tends to desert you. As Paul Terry's bullet header bounced back out after hitting the underside of the bar in the dying minutes of this game that saying certainly seemed apt.
The afternoon had started with a minute round of applause for former Yeovil hero Ralph Davis and was impecably performed by a 5400 cowd.

Yeovil, who were on a high after their 2-0 victory over Walsall, and Manager Steve Thompson only made one change from that team bringing in loan signing Craig Rocastle into the midfield at the expense of unlucky Marc Wilson.
Tranmere started well and kept control of the ball for the first few minutes but Yeovil's first real attack almost brought a goal.

Rocastle set up the move with a great ball to Lindegaard who in turn found Cohen and his cross was only just missed by Arron Davies.
A couple of minutes later and Yeovil had the start they wanted. Ian Goodison dwelt on the ball and lost control to Rocastle. His pass found Matt Harrold who slotted home past giant keeper Murray for 1-0 to Yeovil.

later and Arron Davies was through but he shot straight at Murray.
Yeovil were beginning to win the battle for the midfield and should have perhaps made more of their possession.

In the 18th. minute a good move between Harrold and Davies set up two corners for Yeovil but both were cleared.
Tranmere had a good chance when, from a free kick, Terry Skiverton was called into action heading clear a dangerous cross from a corner.
Yeovil were still maintaining a good rhythm and enjoying most of the possession. Rocastle was having a great half on his debut and his strong running and challenges was a major factor into Yeovil's control.

On the half hour Jason McAteer set up a good chance for Greenacre but he shot wide. But the chance was a warning and two minutes later poor defending saw the ball again fall to Greenacre but the goal was ruled out for off side.
Sadly for Yeovil it was a temporary reprieve as two minutes later Steve Collis was unable to deal with a dangerous cross and the ball went behind for a corner.
From the resultant set piece Goodison rose to head home to draw the visitors level. It was a bad goal to concede and highlighted the need to have kicked on earlier in the half.
Yeovil kept pushing and Nathan Jones and Terry Skiverton combined for Skiverton to head wide and Lindegaard also went close late on in the half.
Half Time: Yeovil Town 1 Tranmere Rovers 1
The second half started with a new referee after Mike Fletcher was injured and 4th. Official came on as sub referee.

Both teams seemed somewhat nervous in the early stages of the second half with nobody really prepared to throw caution to the wind. It might just have been that swirling wind that was inhibiting players from both sides but the first half of the second half was scrappy.
On the hour Chris Cohen appealed in vain for a penalty when a Tranmere player appeared to handle but our new MIB was not interested.
Yeovil were generally having more of the play but every time Tranmere attacked their "biguns" were always likely to cause some problem in the home defence.
The Yeovil defence suffered a real blow when skipper Terry Skiverton had to go off after damaging his knee minutes earlier in a crushing tackle. Colin Miles came on to replace him.

A quick move out of defence in the 68th. minute though, had Tranmere struggling and Matt Harrold won a free kick just on the edge of the box.
Surprisingly Harrold stepped up to take the kick and his shot got through the wall and just managed to roll over the line before Murray could clear. It was a third goal in two games for the young striker and his joy could not be concealed.
Yeovil seemed to be in control at this point but in the 76th. minute Nathan Jones gave away a free kick on the edge of the area and when the kick came in Greenacre was able to poach a goal from close in to break Yeovil hearts again.

Thompson brought Phil Jevons on for Arron Davies and Marc Wilson for a tiring Rocastle and Jevons was involved in a flowing move that saw the ball end up with Paul Terry whose bullet header had beaten Murray all ends up but hit the bar and was somehow cleared.
With it went Yeovil's last real chance of victory and another two points were lost. Having said that as Manager Steve Thompson said in the press conference after the game if you'd asked him if he would have taken 4 points from the six on offer before the Walsall game he would have done so.
It was just the disappointment of not winning a match the manager felt we should have done.
Still Bristol City lost so it wasn't all bad at the end of the day and that defeat will do nothing for their confidence before next week's fixture.
Final Score: Yeovil Town 2 Tranmere Rovers 2
