The supporters departed Huish Park at the end of this game in stark disappointment after seeing their side robbed of a point in a cruel manner as Nottingham Forest took the points thanks to an 88th minute goal from Grant Holt.

The Glovers had put in a fine display in a game that they could so easily have won, playing some great attacking football full of industrious running and lovely passing.

Football is a cruel game though, and as Russell Slade said after the match, it has a habit of turning around and kicking you in the teeth.

The Glovers will be at the dentist first thing Monday morning!

It was a highly entertaining game for the supporters to watch though, and one worthy of two teams who have been in great form in recent weeks.

Coming into the game, Russell Slade kept with the successful formula from Swansea last week, putting out the same team and formation seen at the Liberty Stadium.

This saw Steve Mildenhall playing behind a flat back four of Mark Lynch, Terry Skiverton, Terrell Forbes, and Nathan Jones.

JP Kalala and Paul Terry played the anchor role in midfield, with Chris Cohen in attack, plus Wayne Gray and Lee Morris on the wings, supporting the loan striker Marcus Stewart.

With the action underway, both sides had a few mini attacks, with the Glovers having the first chance on 2 minutes when Nathan Jones launched a free kick from midfield to Wayne Gray in the box, but Smith in the Forest goal made the catch just before it got to the forward's head.

For Forest, Grant Holt went close on 6 minutes with a fine header which forced Mildenhall into a good diving save, and the game really started to get going, with Lynch, Cohen, Gray and Stewart getting involved in some promising moves.

By the 10th minute the Glovers were having the better of the game as they attacked the Forest box at will, with some great play coming in from the attackers, in what was turning out to be a very entertaining match.

The visitors were still having a share of the possession, and getting into Yeovil's box on occasions, but on each time the ball was cleared fairly easily.

Saying that, on 17 minutes Nicky Southall had a great shot from 30 yards that had the keeper beat, but in the end went a foot or two wide.

The Glovers were attacking well, and on 20 minutes produced a great move that saw Morris beat three players as he burst into the box.

The ball was then laid off to Stewart on the left who played it back to Morris to shoot from a few yards out, with Smith making a fine smothering save.Excellent move and a great chance!

Coming up to the half hour Morris, Lynch, Gray, Stewart, Cohen, Kalala and Terry were having a good influence on the game, with the Glovers still having the better of the play.

This wasn't a game of a massive amount of chances on goal, but it was one with plenty of good attacking play and excellent one touch passing through the midfield.

Forest were playing their part too, and despite Yeovil's good play they did look well capable of inflicting damage, proving this with a number of dangerous corners, with Grant Holt looking a constant threat.

This was not as fast moving as we have come to expect at Huish Park, but it was still entertaining, with some well measured attacks coming in from the lads.

As the half came to its end it did hot up a bit with some good breakaways from both sides, and a few more chances created.

Gray went close for Yeovil following some good work from Stewart on 37 minutes, then Jack Lester forced Mildenhall into a fine save a few minutes later with a nice shot from a few yards out.

With the game coming up to half time it was perhaps a surprise that the score was still 0-0, given the reputation of both sides for goal scoring.

It certainly wasn't due to any lack of good play though, with some fine football coming throughout.

pt

For Yeovil, Cohen had been outstanding, with some excellent play also coming from Lynch, Morris, Stewart, Kalala and Terry.

The Glovers were well worth being on terms at the break, and with them having the better of the play, maybe they would have felt themselves unfortunate not to have been in the lead.

Half Time - Yeovil Town: 0  Nottingham Forest: 0

With the new half underway Yeovil carried on from where they left off at the end of the first period with some good passing, attacking play, with the impressive Chris Cohen in the centre of most things good for his team.

It was Chris who produced the first chance of the half with a fine header which he took high, bringing a good catch from Smith.

Two minutes later and Gray received the ball in the box and shot for glory from 4 yards out, bringing an outstanding two footed save from Smith.

This seemed to burst the game into life with both teams suddenly feeling they were in a cup tie with some excellent fast moving attacks.

For Yeovil, Morris, Gray, Cohen, Stewart and Jones were outstanding in their attacking play.Quite how this game was still at 0-0 was quite amazing.

Both sides were doing their utmost to remedy the situation with some very good play, inspired by some very noisy singing from the Westland Stand.

lynch

Huish Park was pulsating with atmosphere!

As the game came up to the 70th minute, inspired by yet more Westland volume, Yeovil started to put some good pressure on the Forest box, with some fine play coming in from Stewart, Morris, Gray and Cohen.

On 73 minutes Ishmael Welsh was introduced to the play, coming on for the tired Lee Morris. He was immediately busy adding some extra impetus to the attack.

lynch

But it was Paul Terry who produce the next "Ooh" from the crowd as he made a good run on 74 minutes, eventually shooting from 40 yards, with the ball unluckily going over the bar.

A few minutes later Welsh got the ball to Lynch, who produced a great cross to Stewart on the far side who saw his header go just over the bar.

Yeovil were really turning it on now with some great play, exciting the crowd with some pulsating attacks which brought the best out of Jones, Welsh, Stewart, Cohen and Gray. How was this still goalless!

Wild card time!Eight minutes to go and on came Danny Webb - the man who has been in free-scoring form for the reserves and in pre-season this year.

The lads carried on with their attacks, but always had to be mindful of the visitors' capability of grabbing one from nowhere.

terrell

Unfortunately for Yeovil this is just what happened when they were undone by a late Forest goal - cruel irony in view of their domination of the game.

On 88 minutes Forest won a corner on the right side.

Nicky Southall took it and swung it in well for Ian Breckin to flick the ball on through a huddle of defenders, to the feet of Grant Holt who half volleyed it in from a few yards out.

skivo

A good goal but a complete injustice to Yeovil!  0-1.

It was an horrendous way for such a good game to end for Yeovil. They could and maybe should have won this game.

jp kalala

It had been quite an outstanding game from the lads, with Cohen, Gray, Stewart, Morris and Lynch all in brilliant form, but in the end it was not enough to beat a Forest side that seem destined for promotion this season.

There was nothing for the lads to be ashamed of at the end of this game.

Not many sides will get any change out of this Forest side this season, and certainly on the evidence of this game, Yeovil should have a very good season themselves.
