With time approaching five o'clock the referee's whistle sounded, signalling the end of the match, and at the same time confirming the Glovers' place in the play-offs.

The Huish Park crowd celebrated, saluting their heroes, not only for the achievements so far this season, but also for a fine performance that brought a good 1-0 win over old rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Coming into the game, Russell Slade brought Terry Skiverton back into the team, after recovering from his groin injury, with Scott Guyett dropping to the bench.

Adam Rooney also moved back to the bench, with Wayne Gray coming into the line-up to take his place on the right of midfield, with Lee Morris moving up front to partner Marcus Stewart.

Yeovil got off to an attacking start, with Morris, Stewart, Cohen and Gray all seeing plenty of the ball.

Rovers were playing their part too, with some fine attacks, the first of which saw Lewis Guy break into the box in the 5th minute to be denied by a fine tackle from Skiverton.

This was turning into an entertaining game full of good attacking football, with both sides contributing well, although chances were not readily available due to some fine defensive play.

There was a good atmosphere in the stadium too, and this was spurring both sides on, but it wasn't until the latter stages of the half that chances were created, with Lockwood heading over the bar on 26 minutes.

A few minutes later Davies received the ball and sent it on to Morris to power his way into the box to shoot from 12 yards but with the ball seemingly destined for the back of the net, it somehow managed to rebound off the inside of the post.

On the half hour Yeovil received a blow when Terry Skiverton was stretchered off, but was replaced by the very able Scott Guyett.

Yeovil continued with some fine play and on 31 minutes Gray made a run down the right flank to send the ball into the box for Morris, but it ended up in the top netting, perhaps unlucky not to have gone in.

At the other end, Doncaster could have taken the lead on 38 minutes, when Jon Forte latched on to a back pass from Lindegaard, to send in a fine shot that brought the very best out of Mildenhall.

A few minutes later, Barry tried a long range shot that was caught by Budtz and the half was reaching it's goalless conclusion.

Half Time - Yeovil Town: 0 Doncaster Rovers: 0

Doncaster made a couple of half-time substitutions, and with it, they got off to a good start with Lewis Guy breaking into the box, but was halted by a superb tackle by Forbes.

Yeovil were soon attacking as well, and on 53 minutes Morris broke clear, sprinting into the box pursued by two defenders, but his eventual shot was well saved by Budtz.

At the other end, Wilson had a great chance, but Mildenhall was equal to it with a superb diving save.

The crowd were willing Yeovil on, inspiring them to some good attacking football, with Cohen, Gray, Davies and Stewart involved in most moves, with the latter unlucky not to have scored with a close range header on 54 minutes.

In reality, despite some fine play from both sides, few real chances were being created, but the crowd were being kept on the edge of their seats, with the potential of a goal always seeming to be around the corner.

Yeovil continued to work hard and certainly deserved to score and on 72 minutes they got their reward when Terrell Forbes knocked the ball to Wayne Gray on the right side of midfield, to power his way into the box, blasting the ball past Budtz from 15 yards. 1-0.

It was no more than the Glovers deserved, and now it was just a matter of holding their nerve to take the points.

Doncaster were still spirited in their attack and put Yeovil under some pressure.

This prompted Russell Slade to bring on the more defensive minded JP Kalala, replacing Morris and this seemed to end Doncaster's attacking spell.

In the end, Yeovil always seemed likely to keep the lead and rightfully take the game.

celebration

The three points were finally confirmed after five minutes of time added on, with the Huish Park faithful going into mass celebration at the final whistle.

Yeovil just have just one more league game to play up at Gillingham next week, but as they stand their 5th place is already confirmed, with the supporters no doubt looking forward to those two semi-final games.
