Yeovil Town moved up to third in the league following an impressive 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth at the Fitness First Stadium last night.
Scoring a goal in each half, they swept to victory thanks to well taken goals from Wayne Gray and Leon Best, in a game that they controlled throughout.
Coming into the game, Russell Slade went back to the diamond formation.

This saw Jean-Paul Kalala return to the line-up, playing the holding role, with Chris Cohen and Nicky Law pushing up, and Arron Davies tucking in just behind the strikers.
As you would expect, Bournemouth got off to a frenetic start, attacking the Glovers with force, with Wilson, Anderton and Hayter seeing plenty of the ball, forcing Mildenhall into a number of super saves.
Not only did Yeovil stand solid, with Scott Guyett and Terry Skiverton in fine form, but they soon started to string together some attacks of their own, with Chris Cohen and Nicky Law showing some good touches in midfield, and Gray and Best up front working their socks off.

The Cherries were creating the chances though, with Hayter busy, but it was Vidarsson who went closest for his team when he chipped the ball over the bar from a few yards out, following a long throw from Anderton.
It soon became obvious that Bournemouth's attack minded play was suiting Yeovil, as the lads started to find holes in the home midfield and defence, with Jones in particular capitalising on the fact with some good running and a number of excellent passes into attack.
Despite some banter from the home crowd, Leon Best was becoming increasingly influential, linking well with Wayne Gray as the two of them started to cause the Cherries' defence a few problems.

In reality though, there were few chances being created by either side, with the game mainly being played in midfield, but as the minutes ticked by the Glovers took more of a grip on the game, starting to play some good one-touch football in midfield, and getting some useful balls up into attack.
And when they went close with a Davies free kick on 30 minutes, the fans started to sense a goal was on the way, with it coming a few minutes later when Jones made a superb run down the left to send a lovely ball into the box for Gray to get the better of defender Neil Young, burying the ball from 8-yards. 1-0.
Yeovil now cruised into the break in confident mood.

The Cherries came out for the second half with all guns blazing, but the Glovers soon got well on top, playing some lovely football.
This was great play from Yeovil, and with Best fighting for every ball, intent on closing his Glovers' account in double figures, victory always seemed likely.

Gray went close on 48 minutes after a fine cross into the box by Cohen, with Best creating himself a number of half chances too, and Davies looking increasingly dangerous.

Arron had a golden opportunity to score on 52 minutes when he broke clear, but somehow managed to mis-hit his shot, with Hayter doing the same a minute later when he shot over the bar from point blank range.
The Cherries were still a danger at times, and on 69 minutes Anderton sent in a wonderful curling shot from 25-yards, bringing a brilliant save from Mildenhall, and Wilson went close soon after too. In reality though, it was all Yeovil, with them never looking in too much danger of conceding.

In fact they only ever looked like adding to their tally, and did so on 77 minutes when Best received a great cross in from substitute Peter Sweeney at the far post to volley home for his tenth goal for Yeovil Town. 2-0.
Victory was assured now, and rightly so, with the Glovers holding complete domination, and passing the ball confidently about, with the supporters cheering their every move.

Still they were intent on adding to their total, with Cohen going close on 81 minutes with a great 20-yard shot, and Best setting Gray up right at the end, only for the 'keeper to deny him with a decent save.

So a good performance from Yeovil, and one that brought a fine win, with other results on the night going their way, so enabling them to enhance their promotion chances.
