The Glovers moved to second place in the table this afternoon with a good 1-0 win over Swansea City at Huish Park.

Coming into the game Russell Slade reverted back to a standard 4-4-2 formation, bringing in Martin Brittain for Arron Davies and Marcus Stewart for the departed Leon Best.

Following a good performance in midweek, the Glovers again played very well, proving as impressive in defence as they were exciting in attack.

They didn't have it all their own way though, with Swansea adding to what was a competitive contest, with both sides strong on the wings, looking determined in midfield and confident at the back.

However, the Glovers had the edge throughout, and even when under pressure they looked reasonably comfortable with Guyett in particular in good form, Marcus Stewart, Wayne Gray, Martin Brittain and Chris Cohen impressive in attack, and Nathan Jones busy throughout the field.

Comparatively few clear chances were created by either side, though there was still plenty of activity in and around both boxes.

The Glovers could have taken the lead in the first minute when Cohen got in a low cross for Stewart a few yards out, but the former Ipswich man just failed to make contact.

This got the crowd excited, as they willed their team on to success, as Yeovil continued to attack.

Swansea had a great chance on 12 minutes when after a goalmouth scramble, Abbott hit a powerful shot from 7 yards which was brilliantly saved on the line by Mildenhall.

This gave his side heart, and by the 20th minute things had evened up a little, though the glovers were still well on top, proving this well on 19 minutes when Jones sent a good ball to Gray just inside the box. He in turn laid it off for Stewart to hit his shot just wide.

Yeovil continued to attack, particularly from the flanks, with some good balls coming into the Swans' box, but the forwards just couldn't quite get on the end of them.

Stewart did however create himself a good opportunity on 28 minutes, when he received the ball 30 yards out, and after a short run sent in a good effort from just outside the box that was well caught by Oakes.

Yeovil ended the first period strongly as they hit the Swansea defence hard, but they still couldn't penetrate Oakes' goal, despite decent chances coming in for Guyett on 32 minutes with a good header, and Brittain soon after who nearly got on the end of a Jones cross.

The second period had a slow start, but both sides soon started to attack each other, creating an exciting and competitive game.

The Glovers still had the edge though, and got their reward on 56 minutes - Marcus Stewart getting on the end of a Jones free kick to flick the ball in with his head from a few yards out for his first goal since returning to the club.

Swansea had attacked throughout, but the goal prompted then to up their game as they attacked the Glovers, with Britton impressive on the wing, Tate solid in midfield and Trundle enjoying a measure of success in the box.

On 69 minutes they had a great chance when Craney hoisted a good shot from out side the box that went just over the bar, with Abbott breaking past Guyett on 72 minutes to force Mildenhall into a good diving save.

With 15 minutes to go Russell Slade decided to add an extra spark, obviously looking to make it safe with a second goal as be brought on both Morris and Davies.

Swansea continued to attack, giving Yeovil a few scares in the final minutes, with Trundle having the best chance on 84 minutes when he had a close range shot cleared off the line by Jones, as the Glovers' box was pelted from all directions.

Yeovil held strong though, with the defence playing out of their skins, as they held firm with some battling performances.

They could well have added a second on 86 minutes when Davies made a great run down the right side, broke into the box and down the line to send in a short cross to Stewart, but Marcus just failed to make contact.

No second goal then, but a win was in the bag, as the Glovers moved into the automatic promotion places, as their season continues to go from strength to strength.
