Yeovil Town came out of the first leg of their play-off semi final with Nottingham Forest unfortunate in a 2-0 defeat.

They dominated the match for long periods, but unfortunately failing to take any of the chances that they created.

Coming into the match Russell Slade brought back the players that he had rested last week, with Terry Skiverton the only key man not available.

The Glovers got off to an attacking start, with Davies, Stewart, Morris and Gray all seeing plenty of the ball.

And they almost scored in the 6th minute when Morris set Davies up to burst through the middle and break clear of the defence into the box to send in a low show from 10 yards, forcing Smith into a good save.

This was turning into a lively game, with both sides attacking well, playing some entertaining football.

On 16 minutes Forbes received the ball in midfield and sent a good pass to Gray on edge of the box to lay it back for Stewart to curl in a shot in from 20 yards that Smith did to save.

Forest were attacking as well, and holding the ball for long periods in the Yeovil half, but the Glovers were breaking at speed well, keeping the mood of the crowd at fever pitch.

The visitors were starting to create chances though, and on 23 minutes they made the breakthrough when James Perch broke into the box and came down under a tackle from Jones, despite the Yeovil Skipper seemingly getting a foot to the ball first.

The Referee awarded a penalty, and Commons stepped forward, sending Mildenhall the wrong way to take the lead. 0-1

Both sides continued to attack, with Stewart, Morris and Davies impressing for Yeovil, and Commons, Perch and Lester doing well for Forest, but frustrated by the home defence.

On 32 Commons got the better of Lindegaard to break into the box, but the Yeovil man fought back to cut him out, with the Forest man sending the ball wide of the near post.

Yeovil had a spirited end to the half, with Morris going close on 37 minutes, Cohen a minute later latching onto a lose ball to test Smith, and Morris unlucky not to score right at the break after a good ball in from Davies.

Arron Davies was having a wonderful game, and on 46 minutes fired a shot against a defender. Stewart picked up the loose ball to send it in for Morris to go close at the near post.

Two minutes later, Barry sent a good 25-yard effort just wide of the upright, and his side were piling it on.

However, Forest came back with ten minutes of pressure, with Commons, Perch and Dobie all impressing, although few chances were created.

Yeovil were soon back in it, but Forest hit them on the break several times, with this typified on 57 minutes when Dobie broke though the middle and into the box, with Guyett saving the day with a superb tackle.

At the other end a long range Barry shot forced a corner that was cleared, but only as far as Stewart on the left who sent in a first time ball for Gray to head inches wide.

Then on 62 minutes Cohen broke down the right to cross in for Stewart to unluckily send his shot just wide.

Both teams attacked well now, playing some good football, with Morris shooting over the bar on 67 minutes for Yeovil.

The Glovers really laid into Forest now, with the crowd behind them.

Gray broke into the box and brought a good save from Smith on 68 minutes, with the 'keeper catching a 25-yard Stewart effort and a Cohen free kick soon after.

Three minutes later Yeovil missed out on a great chance when Barry crossed in from the right for Stewart to unluckily head the ball against the post.

The Glovers were playing some lovely football, but just couldn't get the ball in the back of the net.

And they could have had a penalty on 80 minutes when Morris appeared to have been brought down in the box by Morgan.

Then with minutes to go, the visitors were awarded another penalty themselves when Forbes brought down Lester in the box, with the Forest man converting soon after to give his side a big advantage for the second leg.

It's certainly not over yet, and if Yeovil can get an early goal at the City ground they have every chance of coming back into this tie.
