Yeovil Town were left frustrated last night after being held to a 0-0 draw by Luton - despite dominating the second half.

After seeing the Hatters edge the first period, the home side hit top form after the break, only to find Luton keeper Ben Alnwick in inspired form.

Alnwick made superb saves to keep out efforts from Anthony Barry and Lee Peltier, who was outstanding in a right-back role.

Town top scorer Lloyd Owusu also came close to breaking the deadlock, but Yeovil were forced to settle for a point against a team who were in the Championship last season.

It was the Hatters who were first to threaten, as Andrew burst past Scott Guyett and advanced into the area, only for his cross to elude David Bell.

On five minutes a through ball from Peltier put Anthony Barry clean through for the Glovers' first chance of the night.

But with only goalkeeper Alnwick to beat, the midfielder opted to centre the ball to Lloyd Owusu, who was crowded out by Luton defenders.

Matt Spring then fired in a long-range shot for the visitors which was easily collected by the alert Romain Larrieu in the Glovers goal.

Nathan Jones reacted well inside the area to block an effort from Dave Edwards, before the Hatters star fired a shot well over the bar.

A poor clearance from Forbes on 24 minutes presented David Bell with a sight of goal, but again the Luton man missed the target.

And Bell wasted another good opening a minute later when he cut in past Nathan Jones and sprinted into the area, only to shoot wide.

Just before the break Yeovil finally made an impact as Peltier and Warne combined to set up Marcus Stewart.

But the veteran striker's shot was charged down and the half ended with neither keeper required to make a serious save.

Luton started the second period well and only a goalline clearance stopped defender Jaroslaw Fojut breaking the deadlock from a Darren Currie corner.

But on 50 minutes it was the Glovers' turn to threaten, with Anthony Barry crossing and Lloyd Owusu acrobatically volleying the ball just wide from an acrobatic overhead kick.

Five minutes later Owusu was handed an even better chance from Nathan Jones' centre, but headed wide from just six yards out.

That signalled a period of domination from the home side and on 65 minutes Barry fired in a 20-yard drive that was brilliantly kept out by the diving Alnwick.

Seconds later it was Paul Warne's turn to come close as he curled in a low effort that drifted just wide.

Peltier, who was hugely impressive in his new position, also drew a good save from Alnwick with a low left-footed shot after he burst past Alan Goodall, but the Glovers failed to find the goal that their second half dominance deserved.
