A 90th minute strike from Terry Skiverton gave Yeovil a much needed 1-0 win against Northampton on Tuesday evening in front of an expectant Huish Park crowd.
A first win in 2008 put Yeovil up to 11th in the table and gave them some breathing space away from the bottom four.

Manager Russell Slade was delighted with the win and said that the win was 'as important as winning a cup semi final' for his team and the relief was clear at the end when the players celebrated.
Slade, however, asked the question 'what has this team got to do to get a penalty?' following a foul on Andy Kirk in the box that looked a clear penalty.

Neither side created clear cut chances in the game and it seemed like the match was heading for a 0-0 draw. It was one of those games where it took a moment of brilliance or a lucky bounce and in Yeovil's case it was abrilliant strike from Terry Skiverton.
Yeovil dominated the first half with five shots compared to the Cobblers one. In the 13th minute Andy Kirk played a through ball for big man Lloyd Owusu who fired past the left hand post when he arguably should have scored.

Kirk was also the provider as his cross squeezed agonisingly past Jaime Peters at the far post.

Slade said that former Northampton striker Kirk was the outstanding performer of the first half and the Cobblers must have been left wondering why they'd let the Irish man go.

Ryan Gilligan caused a scare for Yeovil when he had his shot turned round the post by Scott Guyett in the 20th minute.
Yeovil's loan signing from Chelsea, Liam Bridcutt had a left footed volley saved by Mark Bunn in the Northampton goal.

In the second half Jaime Peters showed what he can bring to the team with some fantastic runs on the right wing.
Peters played a cross into the box that fell to Liam Bridcutt who fired over the bar from the edge of the six yard box when in a great position to score.

Russell Slade fumed that Yeovil have had 'one penalty in eighty eight games" and were denied what seemed a 'stone wall' penalty in the 73rd minute when Andy Kirk was tumbled over in the box.
Northampton boss Stuart Gray said that 'if the referee thought it was a stone wall penalty then he should have given it, if not, then he should have booked the lad for diving.' Referee, Paul Melin neither booked nor gave the penalty.

It was not until the 85th minute that on loan keeper Scott Flinders was called into action when he saved a shot from Northampton's Danny Jackman.
The Crystal Palace loanee had a steady game and got through his debut comfortably.

Terry Skiverton left his defensive duties deep into stoppage time for a corner that Anthony Barry delivered into the box.

Skiverton was on hand to fire a left footed drive into the roof of the net giving Yeovil a first win in nine matches since the turn of the year.
A result that put them into 11th place in Coca Cola League one and gave the whole team something to build on ahead of Saturdays crunch clash with Oldham.
