Poor defending saw Yeovil Town slip further away from the Play-Off places after this 2-1 defeat to Tranmere at Prenton Park on Saturday.
"It was poor defending for the penalty, and in fact for the first goal as well, on our part" said Manager Russell Slade.

"After the break we got on the front foot. We went after Tranmere and deserved to be back in the game but then we went and shot ourselves in the foot."
Slade had started with the same team he played against Oldham but he must have been disappointed with his side's defending when the home side went in front as early as the 4th. minute through Calvin Zola.

Tranmere won a throw in and as the ball was passed via Gareth Taylor to Zola the Glovers defence remained static as the big striker scored with a terrific shot into the bottom corner.
Yeovil's Andy Kirk almost levelled things up a few minutes later after a mistake by Goodison but Coyne saved.

But Yeovil were sluggish in the first half and Tranmere needed no second invitation as they piled the pressure on the Glovers.
Mildenhall in the Yeovil goal did well to keep out a Sherriff header and then Myrie-Williams went close as he shot wide.

Zola was the main threat for Tranmere but it was mainly Yeovil's lack of attacking ideas that was making Tranmere look good.
Mildenhall was forced into action again in the 34th. minute when Zola got past Guyett and fired in another great shot but the Yeovil keeper was equal to it.

As they trudged in for a tongue lashing from Russell Slade at half time Yeovil must have felt that by hanging on to half time, with only one goal in it, they may have had a chance.
They started the second half with much more purpose and it didn't take long to turn the improved play into a well deserved equaliser.

Lloyd Owusu broke and set up new signing Andy Kirk who scored his first goal for the club from 12 yards out.
Yeovil were suddenly the better side and looked to have the ability to perhaps sneak this match after all.

But ten minutes later Tranmere were rewarded with a penalty after a clumsy tackle from Scott Guyett on Calvin Zola.
Myrie-Williams stepped up and blasted the penalty past Mildenhall as Yeovil found themselves back at square one.
As Slade commented after the game: "It looked a stonewall penalty to mebut I just don't know what we were doing in that situation because we just needed to hold up the player and shepherd him out of play."

Things got worse for Yeovil in the 71st. minute when Marc Bircham picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Jennings and The Glovers would have to survive for another 20 minutes.

Yeovil, to their credit, kept going and Coyne was forced to make good saves from Owusu and Kirk as the clock ticked down.
But in the end Tranmere were worthy winners and Slade has little time to put things right before the tricky Tuesday night fixture against bottom club Port Vale.
