Yeovil Town slipped two further places down the League last night, but found themselves one point closer to the Play-off places.
This bizarre twist followed the nerve wracking 2-2 draw at Vale Park where the basement club came twice from behind to thwart The Glovers chances of all three points.

Yeovil had the dream start when Gary Dempsey knocked in the perfect cross from Andy Kirk as early as the sixth minute .
The ball had reached Zoltan Stieber, who had recovered from a slight knock to make the team, he spun and found the Northern Ireland International advancing on the right.

Kirk's cross gave Dempsey the easiest goal chance he will have had for a while and the Yeovil number 7 knocked in from close range.
Yeovil continued to press a very hesitant Vale defence and Stieber was next to set up a chance for Terry Skiverton but his header was wide after the Vale defender made some last ditch challenges.

Up front Andy Kirk was a constant goal threat for Yeovil and he had another chance minutes later when he ran on to a Gary Dempsey through ball but his shot didn't cause keeper Anyon a problem.
Yeovil were keen for that second goal and Matty Rose, back in the side after injury, tried his luck in the 17th. minute but his effort was well over the bar and didn't trouble Anyon again.

Vale though were not lying down and seemed to have got over the disappointment of the early goal as they began to probe down the left.
Former Manchester United trainee Adam Eckersley had already given notice of his shooting ability and in the 38th. minute he equalised for Vale with a truly wonderful goal.

The full back advanced down the left avoiding a challenge from Paul Warne and then unleashed a blistering shot that flew past Steve Mildenhall into the top right hand corner of his goal.
Yeovil hit back immediately and could have gone straight back into the lead when Stieber found Skiverton, but his header was wide of the mark and from that point there were no further chances before half time.

The half time break saw plenty of drama on the Yeovil bench as first Matty Rose had to retire feeling unwell , and within minutes likely replacement Marvin Williams was also hit by some sort of virus leaving him unavailable to come on and allow Russell Slade to reshape his side.
Despite the dramas on the bench Yeovil started the second half well and were unlucky not to go in front again when Stieber set up Kirk but his header was saved by Anyononce more.

Kirk went close again when his shot went over but the new Yeovil marksmen was not to be denied and scored a relatively easy goal in the 52nd. minute to put Yeovil back in front.
Vale's first half hero Adam Eckersley attempted a long cross field pass but the ball was intercepted by a vigilant Lloyd Owusu.

The big Ghanian ran forward from the half way line and coolly set up Kirk to score from 15 yards out.
Owusu nearly added a third minutes later when he used his strength and power to muscle past his marker but again the Vale keeper was on hand to save the basement club.

Vale though, to their credit, didn't let the second goal effect them and some hesitant defending allowed them in again to score through Paul Edwards.
Yeovil had successfully dealt with the first threat but Herd managed to clip the ball to the left and an unmarked Edwards had the easy task of heading home.

As the game reached a frantic climax Mildenhall was the Yeovil hero as he kept out three chances for Vale in the final minute to at least earn The Glovers a point.
