Yeovil Town Football Club have received the following messages from Nottingham Forest Supporters over the weekend and we would like to share them with our fantastic supporters!

Following the Forest game with Yeovil last Saturday and our automatic promotion I would like to pass my sincere gratitude and admiration to your supporters that applauded our team at the end of the game and to the hundreds of Yeovil fans who waited outside clapping our fans and shaking our hands. That was more moving to me than getting the promotion. Well done to all of you and I hope that you will be promoted soon.

As a Forest season ticket holder I just wanted to compliment your travelling fans who came to the City Ground and stayed after the final whistle to applaud the Forest team on their lap of honour. I know how gutted we all were last year when you spoilt our dream but I thought today's gesture was really nice.

Good luck for next season

Les Shaw

To each and every proud green and white wearing Yeovil Town supporter who attended then stayed behind to take part in the celebrations at the City Ground Nottingham. Take a bow; you are all a credit to your fantastic football club - thank you. A special thank you message to the 100 or so YTFC fans who stood in front of their parked coaches applauding the Forest fans exiting the ground at the end of the celebrations (about an hour after full time whistle) you know who you are - Brilliant. All the best for next season, I will be checking your results, week in week out, with the hope of success for the Glovers. Now finally I can erase my awful memories from Friday May 18th 2007 - one of your finest hours I'm sure.

As a long standing season ticket holder with Nottingham Forest, I would just like to compliment the Yeovil supporters who made the long trip to Nottingham on Saturday and remained for 15 or 20 minutes after the game to sportingly applaud the Forest squad on their lap of honour & celebration round the City Ground pitch. They are a credit to Yeovil FC.

Good luck next season. It would be great to have you join us in the Championship.

King regards,

Alan Jones

Can I please pass on my compliments to Yeovil Town FC on the behaviour of their supporters at yesterdays match. As you know Forest won promotion in a dramatic match, but your supporters stayed to the end and applauded our players on their lap of honour. They were very sporting and a credit to the club!  If there is any way of thanking them, I hope you can pass my thoughts on. I have been a supporter of Forest for 44 years too!

May I Just say a BIG thank you to all the away supporters that came to the forest game on Saturday. What a Credit to Yeovil Town F.C  not only did they stay behind to applaud the Forest Team on our promotion, but on leaving the ground they formed a line and shook hands with hundreds of Forest supporters.

What a credit they are to Yeovil Town F.C

I wish you all the best for the future and hope to see you in the championship soon

Many Thanks

Fraser

I had the privilege of being at the City Ground on Saturday when Forest played Yeovil and I felt that I must contact your club as to your wonderful fans. Though not many they continued chanting right through the whole match and even at the final whistle instead of leaving straight away they stayed on and applauded The Forest players on their lap of honour along with all the forest fans helping make a great day just perfect. I have not witnessed sportsmanship of that order for decades, and wanted to let your club know about it

Regards

Paul Thompson

I would like to show my appreciation to an excellent set of supporters. I am a forest fan, and your fans were a credit to your club, they happily clapped my team as they did their lap of honour and I must say all of us as forest fans were chuffed to see it

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the fans that stayed behind to applaud the Forest team and supporters at the end of the game. Then the most amazing bit of sportsmanship many of your fans lined up in front of their coaches to applaud us as we left the City Ground

I have never seen anything like it, and I have been going to football matches for over 40 years!

Your fans and team deserve every good wish for next season

I thought I would take the opportunity to express my admiration at the impeccable way that your supporters conducted themselves at Saturdays match at the City Ground, Nottingham. As a Forest supporter you can imagine our delight when we heard the result of the Cheltenham v Doncaster match which gave us automatic promotion. Your supporters were magnificent. Not only did they stay to share our joy but when we left the ground, every single one of them applauded us and shook our hands. In all the years I have been watching football I have never witnessed such a magnificent gesture.

My sincere good wishes to all at Yeovil F.C and I look forward to the teams meeting in competition again real soon.

Best Regards

Mike Jepson

Your club deserves every congratulation on the marvellous sporting behaviour of your supporters at the end of the exciting game at the City ground on Saturday. We have been closely connected to first class football now for over 50 years and never have we seen opposing supporters applauding the other fans. At the end of the game your supporters gathered by your coaches in the car park and cheerfully applauded the Forest fans as we left the ground. Terrific and thank you all.

Best wishes from

Bruce Rhodes and Ann Smith from Gloucester.

I am a Nottingham Forest season ticket holder and I wanted you to be aware of your fans' behaviour last Saturday.

The spectators had to wait for a long time before the Forest team came out to do their lap of honour. To my surprise, a large number of Yeovil fans had stayed behind and when the (Forest) team passed in front of them they applauded the team and staff. I thought that this was a nice gesture on their part.

When I got back to the car park I was astonished to see Yeovil fans lined up in front of their coaches applauding the Forest fans, both walking and in their cars.

This was a unique gesture from the opposing fans, particularly after their team had been beaten.

You should be proud of your fans and their demonstration of true sportsmanship.

Kind regards

Norman White

I just wanted to drop your club a line to pass on my thanks and to congratulate your supporters for their behaviour after the game last Saturday. Upon leaving the ground with my 13 year old daughter we walked past the Yeovil coaches. Most of the Yeovil fans were standing outside the coaches applauding, congratulating and offering best wishes for next season to the passing Forest fans. I have never witnessed this show of sportsmanship by visiting supporters in all my years of following Forest and wish that in this age of money ruling football, the players would do the same on the pitch after a game (applaud each other off the pitch as rugby players do).

Good luck for next season

It's not very often that I write to newspapers but I couldn't let the weekend events pass un-noticed. You will note that I am a Nottingham Forest supporter (who is still coming down after the excitement of Saturday!) and I wanted to pay tribute to the fans of Yeovil Town Football Club. At the end of the game, the large majority of your supporters stayed behind to enjoy and share our celebrations, heartily congratulating our team on promotion. Furthermore, many then proceeded out of the ground and formed a "guard of honour" adjacent to their coaches and proceeded to clap and congratulate the many Forest fans that were still milling around the ground. Amazing ?? absolutely first class. As a display of sportsmanship, I have to say that this was second to none. Football has become dominated at many levels by the staggering amounts of money involved and yet what I, and many others saw on Saturday was priceless. If you have a minute, check out the 606 section on the BBC sports web site - you will see many other tributes from Forest fans. The supporters of YTFC deserve huge amounts of recognition - they were a credit to both the club and the town.

There have been many submissions to the Nottingham Forest website following the game with Yeovil on Saturday. Forest fans have been ecstatic as a result of our promotion. Quite frankly I couldn`t let the occasion go by without commenting on the way in which your supporters reacted as Forest players did a lap of honour when we finally knew we had gained promotion.Your fans were a credit to sportsmanship--something that has been lost over the years. As the Forest players went around the pitch your supporters all decked in green and white could be seen applauding OUR team! What a superb response! It brought back memories of how it used to be many years ago. Well done to all those fans who expressed their views in such a wonderful way. What a great pity we don`t see this sort of thing every week.
