Russell Slade expressed his delight over capturing the signature of club Captain Terry Skiverton for a further year.

Talking at his official contract signing this afternoon Russell said

"If you put aside the fact that he has been at this Football Club for nearly 10 years, that he hasn't moved anywhere else and all those loyalty things that come around in football which don't really exist any longer, he is very much on his own.

"What Terry has proved and what is important to this Football Club right now, is that he can more than handle himself in League One and that's what he is proved since he has been with me.

"There are a lot of things that go alongside that especially his influence in the dressing room and on the pitch.

"When you look at positive results, 8 times out of 10 Terry is in there playing

"He has earnt the right to get an extension and he is a terrific Captain and he will certainly be Captain again next season that's for sure.

"I am delighted that he is staying at this Football Club as I know that there would have been a lot of interest from other clubs in this League, because he has proved himself time and time again."

When asked about his plans and possible transfer targets for the 2008/09 campaign Russell added

"This time of year, your phone is very important and at times you can get very frustrated.

"It is difficult to arrange a date and time to sit down with players you are looking at because of holidays etc, but that's part and parcel of the job and it's worth going through to get the players you want.

"I will be talking to a Central Midfielder tomorrow and hopefully we will be able to conclude a deal and bring him to this Football Club.

"At the end of the day, you want the right players who have the right attitude.

"If deals fall through its all water under the bridge and you just get on with it.

"The pre-season tournament in Devon looks decent and I am looking forward to that.

"We have done a lot of work on our 6 week fitness programme as we have had more time during the close season to analyze and assess the situation"
