Yeovil Town defender Nathan Jones is hoping for a victory at Millwall on Saturday, which will give the club back-to-back league wins for only the second time this season.

Although the Glovers were in 18th place before Sunday's 2-1 win over Gillingham, another three points at the New Den this weekend would push them to within touching distance of the play-offs.

It will be Yeovil's final game for a fortnight because of their early exit from the FA Cup - and left-back Jones has stressed the importance of going into that break on a high.

"The manager said the Gillingham game was the start of our season and that we had to graft and work hard. We got the win we needed," he said.

"Hopefully, we can make it back-to-back wins before we have a break and go into the Bournemouth game (on December 4), which will be a good one for us.

"That takes us into the Christmas period, when we have four home games (out of six league matches) in a month.

"We need to take advantage of that and, hopefully, climb the league.

"We haven't been in a great position. We were 18th and I can't remember when we were 18th before - probably at the start of the season because we begin with Y!

"It is very frustrating when that happens because you don't want to look at the league table.

"Last year we had a fantastic Christmas period - we were really turning sides over and scoring a lot of goals."

Jones believes the Glovers would have won more convincingly at the weekend had it not been for his former team-mate Simon Royce in the Gills goal.

"We should have scored in the first half but I know Roycie from Southend and he's a good shot-stopper. He looks after himself really well for a 36-year-old," said Jones.

"We didn't capitalise on our chances and when they scored we thought 'here we go again'. But a bit of quality from James Walker won us the game."
