Marc Bircham signed for Yeovil Town in July 2007, after being released by Queens Park Rangers at the start of the summer that year.
The midfielder came to Huish Park as a proven performer at both Championship and League One level, and immediately became an invaluable member of the squad.
Marc is a tough tacking midfielder who is a renowned ball winner, and is well known for his passionate play for both club and country.
Born in London in 1978, he started his career Millwall in 1996, and went on to make 115 appearances, scoring four goals in nearly six years at the club.
During this time he won promotion to the Championship in 2001, and in the process attracted interest from a number of higher league clubs.
In deciding to leave the New Den in 2002, he turned down contract offers from then Premiership clubs Birmingham City and Charlton Athletic to join the club he supported as a boy - Queens Park Rangers.
Rangers were in League One at the time, but they soon found themselves promoted to the Championship in 2004.
Again Marc competed well at this level, and played a big part in the Loftus Road club re-establishing itself at Championship level.
In all, he made 149 appearances for QPR, scoring 7 goals, before his eventual release in May this year.
With Marc's grandfather being born in Canada, he qualifies to play for them, and in doing so, got himself in the Guinness Book of records for being the first player to score for a country without having actually been there.
He made his international debut against Northern Ireland in Belfast in April 1999, and he has gone on to win 15 caps, scoring one goal.
Marc had his appearances for QPR limited to twenty last season through injury, but is now fully fit, he is an integral part of the Glovers' midfield.
